Today, Tuesday morning, corresponding to July 4, 2023, a delegation from the Ministry of Oil, led by His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Sheikh Dr. Nimer Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah, paid an inspection visit to Al-Zour Refinery, where the CEO of the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) Waleed Al-Badr and Vice President were at the forefront of the reception. The executive for administrative and commercial affairs in the company, Abdullah Fahad Al-Ajmi, and a number of company officials.
The Ministry of Oil said in a press statement that His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil made the visit accompanied by his accompanying delegation, who are: Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Economic Affairs Eid Al-Mutairi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Administrative Affairs and Information Systems Nadia Al-Attar, Director of Public Relations Department Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad. Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Director of Administrative Affairs, Manal Al-Wahib, Director of the Information Systems Center, Aisha Al-Rabah, Director of Exploration and Development, Ahmed Al-Essa.
The Ministry of Oil stated that the visit included the administrative building of the Al-Zour refinery and the projects of the Al-Zour oil complex, in order to find out the development of the workflow and the latest developments in the project.
During the visit, the delegation of the Ministry of Oil listened to an explanation of the facilities of the Al-Zour refinery, the latest developments in the work in the project, the operational steps of the refinery, and the efforts made by the national cadres in implementing this large project, where a visual presentation was made about the Al-Zour refinery project, showing the stages of its implementation and its components, and a brief summary about the importance of the project and its production capacity. .
His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimer Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah stressed the importance of such field visits to inspect the sites of strategic oil projects and praised the great efforts made by the oil sector in operating the Al-Zour refinery, where he said that the refinery is characterized by its high ability to provide high-quality products that conform to the highest standards. Standard specifications required in the global markets, which places the State of Kuwait among the leading countries in the production of high-quality derivatives.
He stated that the establishment of the Al-Zour refinery is in accordance with environmental specifications to contribute to improving air quality and reducing polluting emissions from power plants by providing them with environmental fuels, as well as the establishment of the project according to the latest international designs and the highest levels and standards of safety, health and the environment, as the Al-Zour refinery is the largest refinery in The world is being built in one stage and it is designed with an estimated refining capacity of 615 thousand barrels per day of Kuwaiti standard oil and the first locally for refining heavy oil and produces 340 thousand barrels per day of high-quality petroleum products that conform to future specifications.
Al-Zour refinery is considered one of the giant oil projects being implemented by Kuwait, and it is one of KPC’s strategies to increase crude oil refining production capacity. The project budget amounts to 4.871 billion Kuwaiti dinars.
