Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates hosted the Third Petroleum Media Forum from April 19-20, 2017. The forum was attended by GCC Ministers of Energy and Petroleum, representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council, and a group of oil media specialists from inside and outside the GCC countries, as well as representatives of the Gulf, Arab and international media.
UAE Minister of Energy Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazroui opened the forum. In his opening speech, Al-Mazroui emphasized the pivotal role played by the media in the era of traditional and modern media, stressing the importance of strengthening communication between the renewable energy sector, specifically oil and gas, and between media and educational institutions.
The following topics were discussed during the forum's two-day sessions:-
- How to manage OPEC's message in an era of digital innovation.
- Challenges and opportunities in the communication sector in the age of innovation.
- New ways for Arab journalists to advance in the energy sector.
- The role of data in energy news resolution.
- The session is titled "Next Steps for the GCC States to Comply with Paris Climate Change Convention Requirements ."
- The cabinet-level session is entitled "The role of the media and future directions of the oil markets ."
- Roundtable dialogs - knowledge sharing.
