Under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the Second Oil Media Forum of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States from 22-24 March 2015. The GCC states' Ministers of Oil and Energy and their accompanying delegations participated in the meeting.
Arab and International Petroleum organizations, the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, oil specialists, local and international news agencies, official television stations, and local newspapers participated.
The forum was opened by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Ali Al-Naimi, who emphasized in his opening speech the importance of activating the role of oil media to defend the fundamentals of the GCC countries and their oil interests, and touched on the necessity of establishing a special association for journalists.
The following topics were discussed at the forum over the course of two days:-

- Training of journalists in the field of petroleum and petroleum culture in the Gulf countries (the role of governments, companies, and universities) and the media.
