Kuwaiti Oil Minister: Joint projects are being contemplated by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, including the collection of methane gas in the Eastern Province

Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Al-Faris said today, Saturday, that there are joint projects that Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are considering, such as collecting methane gas in the eastern region, as well as developing the common area between the two countries to be a clean area.
In a statement to reporters after his participation in the (Green Saudi Initiative) forum, Minister Al-Fares indicated that there are joint initiatives and ideas between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, such as marine life and the creatures in it, as well as climate change, soil quality and desertification problems, which are common things that can be sources of cooperation, which makes the Kingdom's successes a benefit. for Kuwait.
He stressed that his participation in the forum is a reflection of the utmost importance that the Kuwaiti political leadership attaches to the Kingdom's role in its activities and initiatives, considering that "the (Green Saudi Arabia) initiative is a pride for us."
In response to a question about supporting the Saudi initiative (Green Middle East) if it was put on the table of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in (Glasgow) in Scotland, Minister Al-Fares said that we are supportive and proud of the (Green Middle East) initiative, noting that this initiative confirms The oil-producing countries are helpful and contributors in reducing the effects of carbon products and greenhouse gases, and we, as oil-exporting countries, contribute to the process of cleaning the environment and achieving what is called a "clean environment".
He stressed that what Saudi Arabia is achieving reflects the importance of the region and the role played by the Kingdom in particular with regard to climate change and the environment.
The State of Kuwait participated in the forum with a delegation that included Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Al-Faris, Director General of the Environment Public Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah, and CEO of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Hashem Hashem.
