Kuwait Petroleum International supplies London's Gatwick Airport with the first shipment of sustainable jet fuel

Kuwait Petroleum International announced today, Saturday, that its aviation fuel marketing arm (Q8 Aviation) has supplied Gatwick Airport, south of the British capital, London, with the first shipment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The company confirmed in a press statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that it is the first time that this type of fuel has been used on a flight leaving Gatwick Airport, considering that this occasion is an "important event for the second largest airport in the United Kingdom."
She explained that the sustainable fuel shipments supplied to the airport's main tank will be used by the British company (EasyJet) to operate 39 scheduled flights between (Gatwick) and the Scottish city (Glasgow) during the summit of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), which will be held in the period Between October 31 and November 12.
The statement pointed out that the sustainable fuel developed by the Finnish company (Neste) is produced from sustainable waste and the remains of 100 percent renewable raw materials such as edible oils and animal fats, adding that the fuel produced from these materials contributes to a significant reduction in harmful gas emissions compared to regular fuel.
In a related context, the CEO of Kuwait Petroleum International, Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that "providing (Gatwick) Airport with the first shipment of sustainable fuel for aircraft shows the company's commitment to responding to its customers' requests for low-emission fuel in order to reduce carbon footprint. ".
Sheikh Nawaf expressed KPI's keenness to work with its partners to provide a variety of products between traditional and sustainable materials, stressing that the Kuwaiti company will continue to support the global move to reduce harmful gas emissions.
For his part, Executive Vice President of Marketing Operations Azzam Al-Mutawa said that (Q8 Aviation) has developed a strong partnership with (EasyJet), (Neste) and (Gatwick) airport over many years and has become a supplier in many sites of European (EasyJet) airports.
"Providing (Gatwick) Airport with the first shipment of sustainable fuel is one of the many success stories that demonstrate our ability to build long-term relationships with our business partners and the flexibility of our business," Al-Mutawa said.
