Kuwait and Saudi Arabia sign a memorandum of understanding on the joint "Durra field" development project

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Dr. Bader Hamid Al-Mulla, and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Energy, the two parties witnessed today, Sunday, December 11, at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the development of the Dorra field between the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and Aramco Gulf Operations Company.
This comes in implementation of the memorandum of understanding concluded between the governments of the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on December 24, 2019, and the culmination of the discussions held between the representatives of the two countries to agree on a direct mechanism and implement the development of the Durra field located in the submerged zone adjacent to the divided zone between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Khaled Al-Otaibi, Acting CEO of Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, stated that the joint Dorra field development program aims to produce non-associated gas in total quantities equivalent to one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 84,000 barrels per day of liquefied gas.
Al-Otaibi added that the memorandum of understanding, which includes procedures for the development of the Dorra field resulting from the implementation of the items stipulated in the minutes of the ministerial meeting, re-evaluation and completion of engineering studies for the Dorra field project and the formation of a specialized technical team to implement the project.
