The Secretary-General of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Ali Sabt Bin Sabt, stated that the Organization’s Council of Ministers held its 108th meeting at the level of delegates of the ministers of oil and energy in the member states, in the State of Kuwait on May 18, 2022 AD, headed by His Excellency Eng. Khaled Matar Al-Alej, representative of the Syrian Arab Republic in the executive office of the organization, which holds the presidency of the session for the year 2022. Bin Sabt added that the meeting discussed a range of topics related to the work and activities of the organization, including the approval of the organization's final accounts for the year 2021. The year 2023, and the events and symposia that the General Secretariat has organized, participated in, or will be organizing during 2022. He explained that the council was also briefed on the reports prepared by the OAPEC General Secretariat, including the quarterly report on the global petroleum situation, a report on burning gas on the torch, a report on "the International Energy Agency's proposals to confront the possibility of Russian oil leaving the market", and a report on "The Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its initial repercussions on the global oil markets", the quarterly report on "Developments of liquefied natural gas and hydrogen" and others. The Secretary-General stated that the 108th meeting of the OAPEC Council of Ministers (at the level of delegates), was preceded by the 162nd meeting of the Executive Office, which was held on the same day, headed by His Excellency Eng. Khaled Matar Al-Alej, representative of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Executive Office of the Organization, which has Presiding over the session for 2022, a meeting dedicated to preparing for the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization (at the level of delegates). The meeting reviewed the progress made in implementing the plan to activate and develop the organization’s activity approved by the Organization’s Council of Ministers, especially in the field of activating the relationship between the General Secretariat of the Organization and the Arab companies emanating from it, and the field of activating the organization’s role in training, and the field of coordinating the positions of Member States and the rest of the countries regarding change negotiations climate and its obligations, and the field of developing the information bank and activating its role. The meeting also deliberated on the follow-up to the Council of Ministers’ decision “4/107” regarding assigning the executive office of the organization, in coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to activate the Green Middle East Initiative and adopt the application of the concept of a circular economy for carbon. Within three proposed areas related to the petroleum manufacturing industries, new and renewable energies, and the field of "decarbonization technologies in the petroleum industry and the circular economy of carbon". The Secretary-General concluded his statement, expressing his heartfelt thanks for the continuous and unlimited support that the OAPEC General Secretariat receives from its member states, which enabled it to continue to perform its work as required, wishing more progress and prosperity for the petroleum industry in the member states in light of the exceptional circumstances it is going through. global energy markets. The meeting was attended by the representative of the State of Kuwait in the Executive Office of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Sheikh Dr. Nimir Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah.
