(OAPAC): Joint working group with Kuwaiti National Petroleum to Exchange Refining Sector Experiences

Secretary General of the Arab Petroleum Exporting Organization (OAPEC) Ali Bin Sabet announced on Thursday that an agreement has been reached between the organization and the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to form a joint working group to exchange experiences and learn the best scientific solutions in the refining sector. In a statement issued by OAPEC through a videoconference meeting which was held today with Waleed Al-Bader National Petroleum Corporation CEO and Bin Sabet said that the company is one of the main pillars of the oil industry in the State of Kuwait and enjoys a prestigious reputation on the Arab and international levels. He explained that the oil refining industry receives special attention from the OAPEC Secretariat to end the organization conducts many specialized studies as well as scientific conferences and organizes a meeting for specialists in the oil and gas industry in Arab countries with the aim of exchanging experiences and learning about the best scientific solutions in the refining sector. During the meeting Al-Badr was briefed on the Secretariat General activities in the field of economic technical studies which were specialized in the oil industry including studies on subsequent petroleum industries, which OAPEC is publishing on the organization’s website for general benefit. The meeting had addressed the working mechanism of the Secretariat-General’s library, which was one of the oldest specialized petroleum libraries in the Arab States and the information Bank’s working system which contained integrated data on the oil industry and aimed at providing data to researchers, workers and those who are interested in the oil industry and energy affairs. Also, he added that the meeting reviewed the aspects of the cooperation between the two sides and to this end agreed to form a joint working group to develop a mechanism to increase cooperation in digital libraries, oil information and research and development in order to achieve integration between the two sides in these areas. He expressed his thanks to the National Petroleum Company (NPC) for its initiative to cooperate constructively with the OAPEC General Secretariat, stressing that the next stage will witness more cooperation with oil companies in the OAPEC member states, in application of the directives of the OAPEC Council of Ministers members towards activating the role of the organization on the Arab and international levels. According to the statement, Al-Badr confirmed that he welcomes cooperation with OAPEC in the field of libraries, oil information, studies and research, as it is one of the Arab organizations specialized in energy based in the State of Kuwait.
