Forum sessions
Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah stated that the forum will discuss the future of petroleum media and challenges during two sessions. The first session, entitled (Oil and Gas: The Reality and Future of Global Energy), discusses enhancing the utilization of petroleum wealth through transformation industries, the continuity of marketing oil and gas globally, and the future of oil and gas production.
The second session, entitled (Media and Petroleum: Transparency and Responsibility), will discuss future trends in the media in the oil and gas sector, qualifying young generations to produce specialized media content in the oil and gas sector, the role of the media in promoting sustainability in the oil industry, digital transformation and artificial intelligence and their impact on the media sector in oil and gas, the challenges facing the media with energy issues in oil countries, the importance of developing the skills of workers in the field of petroleum media, and the integration of roles between the GCC countries in promoting the importance of petroleum as a global energy source and confronting the opposite discourse. A workshop for media professionals will be organized entitled (The Role of Sustainable Media in Energy Issues), which will discuss the role of the media in spreading awareness of the importance of energy, the use of social media to spread energy topics, the optimal use of artificial intelligence in energy media, a review of global best practices in awareness and education, discussing the role of the media in changing consumer behavior to rationalize energy consumption, how to use various media to spread awareness of the importance of renewable energy, the role of the media in supporting the energy transition, and highlighting the most prominent investment opportunities in renewable energy projects for the GCC countries. Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that the idea of the petroleum media strategy began when the State of Kuwait submitted a paper on the impact of petroleum media on the GCC countries at the meeting of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee held in Doha in 2008, in which she explained the role of petroleum media, which is a key player in directing public opinion.
She added: "Based on the fact that petroleum is a strategic commodity and a major source of energy, and the main driver of the economies of the GCC countries and the global economy, and given the weight and distinguished global petroleum status enjoyed by the GCC countries, as these countries seek to achieve their petroleum interests and achieve stability in the global petroleum market in cooperation with all parties, the GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee decided in its twenty-ninth meeting held in the State of Kuwait on October 10, 2010 to prepare a strategy for petroleum media in coordination with the GCC Petroleum Strategy Committee and derived from it, as the Committee of Petroleum Media Specialists in the GCC countries prepared a strategy for petroleum media for the GCC countries."
The Petroleum Cooperation Committee, in its thirty-first meeting held in Riyadh on October 9, 2012, also blessed the holding of the first Petroleum Media Forum in the State of Kuwait in March 2013.
