Kuwait Oil Company announced today, Wednesday, the move of the drilling rig (Oriental Phoenix) to the (Jazza Strip) in preparation for drilling the new exploratory well (Jazza 1) after the platform’s remarkable success in discovering the Noukhatha offshore field.
The company said in a press statement that the Jazza sector, which is located in Kuwaiti economic waters, is a promising sector as it contains large hydrocarbon resources, indicating that the new exploratory well (Jazza 1) targets the depths of the Cretaceous period.
She added that the Giza sector is one of the four sectors targeted by the current exploratory phase of the Kuwait Oil Company, during which layers of the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods will be discovered in the Kuwaiti marine region.
She explained that this sector is also considered one of the promising sectors in the Kuwaiti marine region because it may contain large hydrocarbon resources, based on studies, geological and geophysical data, and data derived and taken from the (Noukhatha 1) well, through which the Noukhatha offshore field was discovered, which will increase the possibility of opportunities for discovering resources. She stated that during the current phase, six exploratory wells will be drilled, which is considered the starting point for work in the Kuwaiti marine region, and based on the promising and promising results of the current phase, the company will conduct a three-dimensional seismic survey of the various marine sectors in Kuwaiti waters in order to obtain more accurate and better data and so that the picture is complete before starting.
