Kuwait International Petroleum: Duqm Refinery in Oman contributes to supplying the markets with petroleum products

Kuwait International Petroleum Company confirmed on Monday that the Duqm Refinery in the economic zone in the Sultanate of Oman contributes, through its strategic location, to supplying regional and global markets with high-quality refined oil products.
The company said in a statement issued to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the visit of the Kuwaiti oil sector delegation led by the CEO of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, to the Sultanate comes within the framework of joint cooperation in the field of oil and petrochemicals to follow up on the completion of the Duqm Refinery project.
She added that the Duqm Refinery project, which is owned equally by Kuwait Petroleum International and Oman's OQ, is one of the largest joint projects in the Arabian Gulf region.
The company stated that the project completion rate by the end of last November amounted to 99.6 percent, and it is expected that commercial operation of the Duqm Refinery project will take place during January 2024.
She indicated that the delegation was briefed during the visit on the latest developments in the project and the progress of its operation, as all units of the refinery, with a refining capacity of 230 thousand barrels per day, were operated. The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is committed to supplying 65 percent of the refinery’s needs of Kuwaiti crude oil, in line with the corporation’s vision and strategy to provide Safe marketing outlets for Kuwaiti oil.
The company stated that, as of the end of last November, 51 shipments of diesel, liquefied gas, naphtha, kerosene and petroleum coal - in addition to fuel oil - had been exported, equivalent to 2.53 million tons of these petroleum products.
She stressed the Kuwaiti delegation's keenness to meet the Kuwaiti cadres working on the project in both the Duqm and Muscat regions, where the delegation praised the efforts of the Kuwaiti cadres in completing the Duqm Refinery Project.
Kuwait Petroleum International was established in 1983 and is a global marketing company affiliated with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. It operates a huge and wide network of retail fuel stations and stations serving designated transportation routes in Europe, numbering more than 4,700 stations, including more than 2,800 stations in Italy.
The company also supplies global air navigation with aviation fuel at more than 70 international airports, in addition to manufacturing and marketing one of the best and finest types of oils in the world. It owns shares in three international refineries in Italy, Vietnam and Oman through partnerships with international oil companies.
In addition to the CEO of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti oil sector delegation consists of a member of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, Ghanem Al-Ghunaiman, the CEO of the Kuwait International Petroleum Company, Engineer Shafi Al-Ajmi, and the Executive Vice President of Manufacturing for the Kuwait Petroleum International Company, Engineer Imad Al-Hadlaq.
