Ministry of Oil: The State of Kuwait wins four seats on the executive committees of the World Petroleum Congress

The Ministry of Oil revealed that the State of Kuwait won and endorsed for the first time four seats combined in the executive committees of the World Petroleum Congress for the period between 2023 and 2026 in the elections held during the period from September 16 to 21, 2023 in the Canadian city of Calgary on the sidelines of the meetings of the 24th session of the World Petroleum Congress held under The umbrella of the World Petroleum Council (WPC), in a prestigious and pioneering achievement in the world that proudly demonstrates the capabilities of the Ministry of Oil and its national technical cadres to participate in major international petroleum forums and organizations. The Ministry of Oil said in a press statement that the winners of the four positions on the executive committees of the World Petroleum Congress are: Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Technical Affairs, Mr. Eng. Khaled Walid Al-Din for the position of the Scientific Program Committee, and in the Youth Committee, two seats were won for Petroleum Engineer - Drilling and Production Department, Mrs. Eng. Dalal Al-Ohali, and Junior Petroleum Engineer - Exploration and Development Department, Mr. Eng. Muhammad Al-Rashed, and in the Executive Committee, the position was won by Professor Dr. at Kuwait University, Mr. Dr. Talal Al-Bathali, Vice President of Marketing Affairs. Technical committee seat Regarding the seat won by the Ministry of Oil in the Scientific Program Committee at the World Petroleum Conference, the Ministry of Oil indicated that the State of Kuwait gained the confidence of the Executive Council in its next session 2023-2026 by obtaining a seat in the committee, which is considered one of the most important technical committees of the conference, which included 17 countries, including the State of Kuwait, were selected out of 58 countries, in order to work on studying, evaluating and approving the technical research materials submitted by the member states, in addition to reviewing the scientific materials of the technical papers and research submitted by specialists from the petroleum, environmental and research bodies in the country, as the State of Kuwait won. With this important position, he will support the Kuwaiti position during the research evaluation process and increase the approval of the preparation of research approved for Kuwait by the Council, in addition to nominating representatives to manage the dialogue sessions of the conference in its next session. The Ministry of Oil stated that it won two seats in the Youth Committee, and this committee is considered one of the most important conference committees in empowering and preparing young cadres, which included the selection of 20 countries, including two seats for the State of Kuwait out of 58 countries, towards creating an environment for transferring petroleum knowledge to young cadres. The Ministry of Oil said that the State of Kuwait gained the confidence of the Executive Council in its next session 2023-2026 by choosing it as a member of the Executive Council - Marketing Affairs, as it is considered one of the conference’s most important leadership positions in marketing the conference and bringing viewpoints closer between countries, as the selection included 9 countries, including The State of Kuwait is out of 58 countries. The Ministry of Oil indicated that the State of Kuwait is a member of the World Petroleum Council, among 58 member states representing various countries of the world, which holds its annual conference every 3 years at the beginning of each session with a new council and its committees, which is accompanied during each session by meetings of the Executive Council and the emerging committees for each of the following: The Youth Committee and the Technical Scientific Program Committee, where the Council represents a platform for joint dialogue between leaders and specialists representing the member states, which aims to exchange the most prominent technological practices and review the views and contributions of the member states in the petroleum field to reach the desired goals. It should be noted that the World Petroleum Council (WPC) is a non-governmental organization, in accordance with the accreditation of the United Nations, and the Council aims to promote sustainable management and use of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all.
