Kuwait's crude oil exports to Japan increased by 14.7 percent

Government data showed on Monday that Kuwait's crude oil exports to Japan rose last December by 14.7 percent from the previous year to 6.79 million barrels, or 219,000 barrels per day.
The Japanese Natural Resources and Energy Agency said in a preliminary report that Kuwait, as the third largest oil supplier to Japan, supplied 7.4 of its total crude imports.
Kuwaiti crude oil exports to Japan amounted to 209 thousand barrels per day, a decrease of 8.5 percent over the previous year, and constituted 8.4 percent of the total Japanese crude imports.
Japan's total imports of crude oil rose last December by 13.6 percent on an annual basis to 2.97 million barrels per day, an increase for the fifth consecutive month.
Shipments from the Middle East accounted for 95.2 percent of the total, an increase of 2.7 percentage points over the previous year.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains in the lead, as imports from the Kingdom jumped by 21.1 percent from the previous year to 1.28 million barrels per day, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 1.10 million barrels per day, an increase of 31.4 percent.
Qatar ranked fourth with 151,000 barrels per day, and Russia ranked fifth with 93 thousand barrels per day, respectively.
Japan's imports of crude oil rose by 0.5 percent to 2.49 million barrels per day.
Japan is the third largest consumer of oil in the world after China and the United States.
