His Excellency the Minister Dr. Al-Fares immediately issued directives to form a high-level, impartial technical investigation committee, whose members are experienced and specialized to study and evaluate the accident, determine the causes of its occurrence, and if there is any failure on the part of any party, and put in place the necessary mechanisms to avoid the occurrence of such a matter. In the future, the committee will urgently submit its recommendations to the Minister and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation to take the necessary action based on the results of the investigation work. On the other hand, His Excellency the Minister made it clear that due to the fact that the damaged unit was out of service for maintenance reasons at the time of the accident, the refinery operations and export operations were not affected by the fire, and the local marketing operations or supply operations to the Ministry of Electricity and Water were not affected, and the company will soon start work on restoring unit back to normal. His Excellency the Minister, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Latif Al-Fares, mourned with great sadness and sorrow the contractor workers of Asian nationality who died while performing their work. He prayed to God for a speedy recovery to those injured in the fire. The accident resulted in the registration of two deaths, in addition to 10 injuries, 3 of whom were treated and returned to their homes, and the treatment of the rest in hospitals was closely and continuously monitored by His Excellency the Minister of Oil, the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and the company’s leaders.
